Shino Chawan by Hayashi Taketo
This beautiful chawan (tea bowl) was made by a potter named Hayashi Taketo. It presents the always attractive characteristics of Shino pottery, which has traditionally been made for the Japanese tea ceremony. The play of contrast of tones on the fire landscaped glaze are always a feast for the eyes.

Hayashi Taketo, a fourth generation potter, was born in the city of Toki, one of Japanís traditional pottery centers, in 1967. He graduated from Nagoya University of Art in 1990, and started studying pottery with his father, Hayashi Ryoji at the Besan kiln, in 1994. Since then, Hayashi Taketo has exposed in several galleries around Japan.

The chawan is signed, in perfect condition, and comes in a signed wooden box. Dimensions: 12 x 8.5 cm (4.8 x 3.4 in); weight 355g (12.4 oz)
