This wonderful cup and saucer set is part of a series of new pieces exposed from July 1, 2011 at Gallery Goro in Tokyo. It was made by one of the best known contemporary Japanese potters, Suzuki Goro. In spite of the recent calamities that have shaken Japan to its core, the master potter continues to create highly energetic pieces; as ever the potter's wheel is spinning. It is in only by keeping on working that we will continue on going forward; only by creating that we will shape the world to our liking. Suzuki Goro does what he does best and keeps injecting our minds with vibrant potteries that lift us up and remind us that life is a dynamic process full of awe and made to be enjoyed too. Pastel tones, dancing crows and that oh-so-rich-and-eloquent clay are all full of the energy that has been flowing down and through the artist for more than fifty years. The current is always on. Kindly inquire if you have any question. Suzuki Goro is a potter who goes beyond that usual appellation. He has developed a unique way of expressing himself through ceramics, basing his work on traditional styles from the Mino tradition: Shino, Oribe, Ki-Seto (yellow Seto), Setoguro (black Seto) and the Karatsu tradition. His works, which have a strong sense of individualism, include tea bowls with colorful painted cars and life size chairs, but he is also a master of more orthodox pieces. In 2002, Suzuki Goro received the very prestigious Japan Ceramic Society Prize. Both cup and saucer are signed and in perfect condition. They will be shipped in a signed box. The combination of the two pieces might be changed, but we will then let you know the availability of other pieces to complete a set. Dimensions: cup 7.5 x 6.5 cm (3 x 2.6 in); saucer 12 x 2.5 cm (5.8 x 1 in) The listed price includes EMS shipping with insurance and tracking (please allow for a few weeks before the box is made). Please make sure you read my Sales Policy Page and kindly inquire if you have any question. Some of the pieces presented in this catalog may be acquired through an interest free payment plan. |
