Shino Chawan by Kato Toyuki
sold

A humble chawan (tea bowl) made in the Shino style of pottery by a potter named Kato Toyuki.

The fine crackled white glaze softly envelops the vessel, while the central underglaze marking, that seems to come out of an ancient sutra, gives it a mysterious air.

Please let me know if you have some questions.

The chawan is in very good condition; it presents one small crack that was made during firing (see picture 11). The bowl comes in a signed box.
Dimensions: 12.5 x 7.5 cm (5 x 3 in), Weight: 395g (13.8 oz)
