Hagi Chawan by Hirose Tanga
sold

A superb chawan (tea bowl), made by a master potter named Hirose Tanga, born in 1939 and whose kiln, called Tenpozan-gama is located in the city of Hagi.

This is yet another great example of the revered beauty of Hagi tea vessels, standing on a strong kodai (foot) where the famed red clay can still be marveled at. The bowl is veiled by a silky white glaze; a perfect balance of rusticity and sophistication, sought after for more than 400 years.

The chawan is signed, in perfect condition, and comes in a signed wooden box. Dimensions: 12 x 10 cm (4.8 x 4 in); weight 390g (13.7 oz)

Worldwide shipping: EMS $32 (with insurance and tracking), SAL $13
