Hagi Chawan by Tamamura Shogetsu
This item is currently being auctioned

A very attractive chawan (tea bowl), made by a master potter named Tamamura Shogetsu Tanga.

The chawan presents the great features of Hagi tea vessels. The classic shape is dressed with a smooth, finely crackled glaze, whose milky and pink tones are played in an original fashion.

This is yet another great example of the revered beauty of Hagi tea vessels, a perfect balance of rusticity and sophistication, sought after for more than 400 years.

Tamamura Shogetsu established his kiln, called Kofuan, in the city of Hagi, in 1952. One of his sons, Tamamura Shogetsu II, has inherited the kiln. His other son, Tamamura Tohyoh, is also a potter.

The chawan is signed, in perfect condition, and comes in a signed wooden box. Dimensions: 14 x 8 cm (5.6 x 3.2 in); weight 260g (9.1 oz)

Worldwide shipping: EMS $32 (with insurance and tracking), SAL $13
