Taiki Matsunaga was born in 1955 in Nagoya, Japan. Nagoya is located in the prefecture of Aichi, home of the Seto ceramics. After having studied ceramics in high school, Taiki furthered his studies at a ceramic school in the city of Seto, and in 1985 opened his own atelier in the city of Tajimi, birth place of Mino ceramics. Taiki has been a frequent guest at the Kuroda Toen gallery in Ginza, Tokyo, where many promising potters expose their works.
This particular plate was part of Taiki’s 2004 exposition in Tokyo. It has a very unique and forward looking character, brought out by a man that has made the creation of ceramic his life, but who is constantly researching new ways to create and expand his mastery of the craft.
The plate is signed and in excellent condition.
