Shino Chawan by Takauchi Shugo
It always seems that chawan (tea bowls) made by Takauchi Shugo have a dramatic story to tell, and this remarkable bowl is no exception. Its rich tones and nuances in the texture mesmerize, and the more we look, the more we get charmed and become captive of the chawan’s powerful aura. Like most great contemporary potters, Takauchi Shugo is a true artist and creator and his work reflects his strength and dynamism. This great piece is yet another splendid evidence of the mastery of the craftsman. Takauchi Shugo, born in 1938, is a worldwide acclaimed Mashiko based potter.
