| One of the most wonderful characteristics of Iga ware is the bidoro (vitrified glass) effect on a pottery. This fabulous cup is crowned by a wonderful diadem of green gems and the kodai (foot) rivals with the mouth in marvels. This enchanting piece seems to be born from a dream and destined to be hidden in a treasure box. Yet it is when used that it will reveal its true beauty. The cup was made by Watanabe Aiko, born in 1971 in Osaka. She graduated from Kyoto Saga University of Art in 1992 and went on to study Shigaraki pottery. In 2001, she established a kiln in the city of Iga, a historical pottery center, not far from Kyoto. She now has three kilns there and exposes regularly in cities like Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The cup is signed and in perfect condition. It will be shipped in a signed box. Dimensions: 8.5 cm x 4 cm (3.4 in x 1.6 in), Weight 110 g (3.9 oz) More pictures available on demand. | ||||||||||||||
