Vintage Lacquer Yunomi

For the first time in this catalog, I am presenting a yunomi (tea cup) made of lacquered wood, during the Meiji period (1868-1912). The cup wears its age with dignity and its subdued sheen and golden motifs give it a great appeal. Inside the vessel, the crackled lacquer is reminiscent of the kanyu (crackled glaze) seen in classic ceramics. This splendid craftwork certainly has its place among this catalog’s pieces. The maker of the yunomi is unknown, but its box is signed Nakamoto. There are a couple of almost invisible hairlines running on opposite sides, from the mouth for about 1.5 to 2 cm (0.6 to 0.8 in), otherwise, the cup is in perfect condition. It will be shipped in its wooden box. Dimensions: 6.5 cm x 7.5 cm (2.6 in x 3 in); weight 105 g (3.7 oz) More pictures available on demand. Please make sure you read my Sales Policy Page and kindly inquire if you have any question.
