Shigaraki Guinomi by Okami Shuji

This is a fantastic guinomi (sake cup) with a very rich character that never seems to reveal itself at once; it will take time to fully embrace its beauty and to know it. The cup presents all the wonderful features of Shigaraki ware, at every turn: the green vitrified crackled glaze, the red hardened clay embedded with grains of salt and a spectacular palette of earthy colors. The roughness inside of the cup is sure to spice up the beverage. The guinomi was made by a potter named Okami Shuji, born in Tokyo in 1953. He studied in Kyoto and in Kyushu, before his passage in Shigaraki where he perfected his craft under pottery master Furutani Michio. Okami Shuji founded his kiln in 1986, in Yamanashi prefecture. The guinomi is signed, in perfect condition and will be shipped in a signed wooden box. Dimensions: 7.5 cm x 5.5 cm (3 in x 2.2 in); weight 125 g (4.4 oz) More pictures available on demand Please make sure you read my Sales Policy Page and kindly inquire if you have any question.
