Set of three Yunomi by Suzuki Goro

Here is a beautiful set of three large yunomi (tea cups) made by Suzuki Goro, one of the most prolific contemporary potters, also known as a potter’s wheel prodigy. This splendid ensemble is a tribute to the colorful versatility and creativity of the master craftsman. The three cups are made in the Kuro-oribe (black oribe), yashichida oribe and narumi oribe traditional styles of pottery, from the ancient province of Mino (current Aichi prefecture) where the artist is from. Suzuki Goro is a potter who goes beyond that usual appellation. He has developed a unique way of expressing himself through ceramics, basing his work on traditional styles from the Mino tradition: Shino, Oribe, Ki-Seto (yellow Seto), Setoguro (black Seto) and the Karatsu tradition. His works, which have a strong sense of individualism, include tea bowls with colorful painted cars and life size chairs, but he is also a master of more conventional pieces. In 2002, Suzuki Goro received the very prestigious Japan Ceramic Society Prize. The yunomi are signed, in perfect condition (the narumi cup has a small firing crack at the foot; see picture) and will be shipped in one signed wooden box (please allow a few weeks before shipping). The listed price does not include shipping and a 4% processing charge. Dimensions: all cups 8 - 9 cm x 10.5 – 11.5 cm (3.2 – 3.6 in x 4.2 – 4.6 in) Please make sure you read my Sales Policy Page and kindly inquire if you have any question.
