A fine shoe-shaped - katsugata tea bowl of black Oribe (oribe-kuro chawan), the coarse Mino clay is covered with a thick black glaze, on one side a cartouches featuring irregular strips patterns in iron-brown glaze on creamy ground. Japan, Edo, Meiji period, 19th cent. L 13.5 cm, H 6.5 cm. Condition: Excellent with signs of use and wear.

Antique Japanese Lacquer Fubako, a box used to store document. Of deep rectangular shape, decorated with twigs of different flowers, mainly chrysanthemum and morning glory and leaves in gold and silver hira maki-e on a gold nashiji ground. The interior in loose nashiji on black ground. Fitted with two metal mon rings. Size: L 38 x W 7,5 x 8,5 cm. Edo (1603-1868) 19th century. Condition: Good with a few minor nicks along the inner corner of the lid(see last picture)...

A rare and finely formed dildo/adult sex toy made of semi-transparent, hollowed horn. Below the finely formed head are a series of raised grooves for added stimulation. Two holes on either side of the lower stem for attaching. Japan, Edo, ca. 1800–25. L 15 cm. Condition: Fair, few cracks and holes due to age and wear(check photos)

A small but very attractive album leaf in ink and faint colors on silk depicting a scholar on an outing on a river or lake. Signed: Yue An zhu ren (Moon Hermitage Dweller). Dated gengshen = 1860. The style used is in imitation of the ‘dry or sparse ink landscape’ associated with the Yuan painter Ni Zan (1301–1374). Qing, mid-19th cent. H 23 cm, W 18.5 cm (picture frame). Condition: Fair w. some soiling.

A very attractive stand of natural, gnarled root wood with a deep honey color and very good details. Finely grained wood (cypress?) with dark recesses. To be use to enhance the beauty of a fine small vase, cup or scholar object as incense burner. China, Qing, probably late 19th century. H 13 cm, W 15 cm. Condition: very good and fine patina.

A large rouleau vase of porcelain decorated with the Three Auspicious Gods (sanxing) of Daoism, in polychrome enamel glazes (famille verte style) on a deep, blue ground. Excellent quality of work. China, late Qing to early Republican Period, ca. 1900–1925. Marked with a Kangxi-period nianhao. H 46 cm. Condition: Excellent.

An elegant and fine ink-stone (Shezhou, Anhui) made of carved, dark schist with minor, green-brown inclusions. One “eye.” Two small feet at top end. Fitted and finely carved lid of chicken wing wood (jichimu). The inscription reads: “A treasure from the Zhishi shanfang.” In a Japanese box from the 19th century (with full inscription). China: Qing, probably 18th cent. L 16,5 cm, W 11 cm. Condition: Excellent (small chip in ink-well).

A fine and rare incense burner for the scholar’s table of carved and polished black stone. Rectangular in shape, a pair of open-work handles in the form of scrolls on four short legs. The two main sides carved with dragons in archaic style. China, mid-Qing, 18th cent. W 9 cm, D 4.5 cm, H 5 cm. Condition: Super (minor wear due to age, but very good patina all-over).

A good 19th century Ningxia Region pillar rug with a dragon motif. The woollen rug has a design of a blue winding dragon with open mouth; all around are Buddhist auspicous symbols like the flaming Pearl and clouds. Measurements: L 168 x 62 cm; L 66 x W 24,5 inches. Good condition.

A well-made ink-stone box of heavy, rose wood (hongmu). The lid inlaid with thin bamboo slips to form a sentence of four characters reading: “Auspecious Blessings as You Please (Jixiang ruyi).” Late Qing, ca. 1900. L 24 cm, W 15 cm, H 5 cm. Condition: Perfect (very minor wear due to use).

A powerful image of Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rimpoche, the reputed founder of Tibetan Buddhism. Carved mostly of a single piece of precious dark purple sandalwood (zitan). Remains of colours and gold. Tibet, 17–18th cent. H 15 cm. Condition: Very good but of course with wear due to age. The trident (khatvanga) is missing.

A very good and large scroll painting in ink and colours on paper, depicting the Immortal Gama Sennin (Chinese: Liuhai ) the “Toad Hermit”, with the three-legged toad. Gama Sennin is connected to good luck and wealth. Both Gama Sennin and his toad friend are depicted in a very sweet, humorous manner. It was probably part of a sliding door, later remounted as a scroll with a very beautiful, high quality brocade...

A real antique Tibetan image! Powerful and quite rare wood image depicting Hayagriva, the wrathful emanation of Avalokiteshvara, with a horse head appearing from his skull, a dorje in his right hand; he is wearing a long necklace of skulls (the center, lower part is lost), he wears a human and elephant skin on his shoulders ( the lower, left corner of the “skin” is broken, old brake). H. 17 cm. (6,7 inches). Tibet, late 18th cent.

A large rosewood, huanghuali brush pot, bitong of simple cylindrical form with thick walls and the base with an inset plug. The wood grain has particularly nice patterns, with a few 'ghost eyes', and a wonderful deep honey-brown patina. H 16 x 16,4 cm Diameter Late Ming/ early Qing Dynasty. Condition: good with a couple of chips at the lower part and thin hairline at the bottom.

An attractive and rare group of rootwood ducks. Partly carved from the natural root with the legs attached. The gander with a natural stone around which the root has grown. Meiji, ca. 1850. Size: . H 15 cm, H 12,5 cm., H 10 cm . Condition: Excellent and with great age patina.

Finely painted with ink and colors on silk depicting a crouching tiger, lurking ready to pounce on the pray; the striped fur neatly rendered with needle-like brushstrokes, signed Ganku and sealed. ********Kishi Ganku (1749-1839) was a leading Japanese painter of Kyoto and founded the Kishi school of painting; became famous for his meticulously brushed paintings of tigers...

A fine root wood figure depicting an aged Daoist Immortal, holding a ruyi scepter in one hand and standing on a high rock surrounded by waves in an imaginary sea . The head of the Immortal is partly carved while the body and partly the stand are naturally shaped. Made of two parts fixed together. Ming Dynasty, 17th cent. H. 20,5 cm. Condition: very good patina with some wear .

Scroll painting depicting a humorous Daikoku, God of Wealth and kitchen, brings prosperity to the household. He is holding a mallet and a sack and standing on a huge daikon / radish. Painted in Zen style, ink on paper. Inscribed and dated: Taisho 1924, sealed and signed. Picture size: H 87 x W 30 cm. Scroll full size: H 175 x 39 cm. Condition: fair, a few stains. Recent mounting.
