A carved bamboo brush pot (bitong). 19th cent.

A brush pot (bitong) made of carved bamboo w. domestic scenes and animal, themes in deep relief. Two poetic impressions of five characters each. China, Qing, mid- to second half of 19th cent. H 12.8 cm, D 8 cm. Condition: Very fine, but w. some old drying cracks (1 to top, 4 to bottom). Inside bottom w. marks indicating old use.
