A small, highly attractive carved duan ink stone depicting in the upper part a bat (bianfu) among clouds. A fitted cover made of jiqimu (chicken wing wood) in the shape of a fruit covers the area for grinding. An old Japanese-made silk pouch comes with the piece. Qing, first half of 19th cent. L 12.5 cm, W 7.5 cm. Condition: Excellent. Worn smooth from use.
