An highly attractive tea pot of glazed stoneware with a powerful, squat, hexagonal shape decorated in a dense, ox blood glaze, which a places run thin to reveal the contours of the pot’s corpus underneath. Made by Kawai Kanjiro’s student Ueda Tsuneji (1914–1987). Ueda’s pieces, like those of his sensei, are unsigned, but the hexagonal form and powerful and heavy style of pottery, is characteristic of his work. H 15.5 cm, W 17.5 cm. Condition: Excellent (super tiny chip to inside of lid’s rim).
