Large rubbing featuring poems of famous Chinese poets including Li Bo, Wang Wei, Du Fu, etc. all praising the sceneries at Mt. Hua in Shaanxi, one of China’s most famous Daoist mountains. Below the poems, all of which are written in different calligraphic styles, is a panoramic depiction of Mt. Hua and all its major sites. The stele is recorded as having been made in 1628 (Chongzhen 1st year). The rubbing has been mounted on paper and silk sometimes before or around 1950. Rubbing done well before the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Condition: Very good. Professional repairs to the parts of the rubbing where the stele has been damaged.
