Beautiful gilt bronze votive image of Akshobya Buddha

Beautiful votive image of gilt bronze depicting Akshobya, the Buddha of the Eastern Direction, seated on an unusual double-layered lotus throne. In front of the Buddha is a vajra, the attribute of Akshobya.The Buddha’s robe has been engraved with detailed patterns along the borders as well as on the under-garment (dhoti). The piece has been done in the lost-wax method in two parts. Sealed. Tibet, second half of 15th to early 16th cent. H 11 cm. Condition: Excellent w. minor wear to gilt surface due to age.
