Late Ming bronze  Buddha Ratnasambhava
A very fine, heavy-cast, bronze image of the Buddha Ratnasambhava (one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas) seated in the meditation posture with the right hand extended and open palm. The lotus seat w. incised pattern is of the half-seat type (back part w. no petals), a common feature to Buddhist images of this kind. Deep brown, uniform patina. Remains of lacquer coating in corners and grooves. Late Ming, ca. 1600. H 24 cm. CONDITION: Very good. Minor dents and scratches due to age. One casting error to front of lotus seat. Inside with one bronze filling and the usual pegs for the mold.
