19th cent. pair of album leaves on scroll; Ji Yuan
A pair of very attractive album leaves painted with faint colors and ink in the sparse, sophisticated style characteristic of the eccentric painters of the late Ming to early Qing. Mounted on a scroll of recent date. The leaves depict a hermitage in the mountains and a scholar’s studio in a garden respectively. Both signed Ji Yuan in a neat hand and each w. the artist’s seal. Qing, 19th cent. The leaves are dated with a jiazi corresponding to 1818 (or 1878). Each leaf measures, H 32 cm, W 20.5 cm. CONDITION: Very good, clean surfaces and nice mounting. No tear or wear, but some worming.
