Large, and Imposing, I wish I could identify the artist, there are quite a few "Brions" listed in my references. Housed in an elegant, and very expensive gilt enhanced carved wooden frame, this piece meant a lot to the original owner

European Landscape late 19th century oil painting on panel signed G. Mamhes. The painting is very similar in style and technique to the works of C. Mammes (shown below) This painting pleasing and a well done pastoral landscape of a farmer, oxen and cart in the fields surrounded by trees and rolling hills.

This painting is framed in a custom gilt wood frame. Dimensions: 13 Inches x 15.5 Inches Condition: Excellent, a few flakes near signature. Frame has a small lifting of gilt wear label was placed.

CARL KAHLER, oil painting on canvas, late 19th century, woman with gray thorobred race horse. Kahler was a well known listed American artist (Benizet), famous for his beautifully rendered horse and cat paintings. The female figure was a popular model at the time of the painting, and was known as the "IVORY SOAP GIRL." She also modeled for advertising for Coca Cola. Perhaps you have seen her on old trays. Born in Linz, Austria in 1855. Kahler studied at the Munich Art Academy and in Paris. During the 1880s he was well known in Germany and Austria. An itinerant artist, in 1886 he sailed for Australia where his works were well received and in demand. While there, he was awarded the commission for four paintings of the Melbourne Cup (racing event) and others in New Zealand. Upon moving to San Francisco from NYC in 1891, he opened a studio where he specialized in figure painting. Condition: excellent, original gilt Art Nouveau period frame. Albert Baure Benezit listed artist (1867-1930) a French impressionist oil on canvas, a French Riviera village seaside street with a few villagers relaxing on the cliff above the sea peeking out from the left. Baure is Benezit listed, noted for his his village and landscape paintings. The last photo shows the Benezit memo.

Late 17th Century, or Early 18th Continental Oil, of a beautiful Rubenesque woman wearing rich sumptuous garments, her fair hair peeking out from under her turban. She is reading with full attention to her book. The lovely woman is dressed in a rich low cut gown accented by a large necklace which falls between her generous cleavage.

The painting, an oil on board has all the attributes of a Flemish, or Dutch masterpiece of the late 17th, early 18th century in the manner of Peter Paul Rubens.

I do not see a signature on the painting which is on an oval 7x5.75 Inch hand chamfered board. Undoubtedly worthy of a museum. The original hand carved frame is of the period and bears similar characteristics to frames from the Low Countries and Spain.

Condition is very good. There is craquelature and some scratching well preserved under the original varnish. There is a small scratch lower right edge of board.
