BLACK LACQUER KODANSU JEWELERY CHEST, Edo late 19th Century. Exceptionally fine miniature Japanese black lacquer Kodansu with three enclosed drawers, each with a tooled pull. The openwork floral hinges and findings are delicate with tiny hand made nails which have finishing details also.

A magnificent painted cockerel in bamboo and rock work done in high relief guards the door. Chrysanthemums and foliage highlight the sides and top. A rare collectors work of art.

Large, and Imposing, I wish I could identify the artist, there are quite a few "Brions" listed in my references. Housed in an elegant, and very expensive gilt enhanced carved wooden frame, this piece meant a lot to the original owner

LUCKY DOLL (Hanako) with six wigs,Japan 1950's. The doll set is all original; hard to find one with six wigs, especially in this condition. Stand is also included in the original box.

Often known as "THE HANAKO" several Japanese companies manufactured this doll shortly after WWII. Ningyo, or doll collecting is especially popular in Japan, and this doll is highly sought by collectors.

Wigs are made from human hair. Dolls face is "Gofun" or oyster shell. Dimensions: 6.5 Inches
