Late 17th Century, or Early 18th Continental Oil, of a beautiful Rubenesque woman wearing rich sumptuous garments, her fair hair peeking out from under her turban. She is reading with full attention to her book. The lovely woman is dressed in a rich low cut gown accented by a large necklace which falls between her generous cleavage.

The painting, an oil on board has all the attributes of a Flemish, or Dutch masterpiece of the late 17th, early 18th century in the manner of Peter Paul Rubens.

I do not see a signature on the painting which is on an oval 7x5.75 Inch hand chamfered board. Undoubtedly worthy of a museum. The original hand carved frame is of the period and bears similar characteristics to frames from the Low Countries and Spain.

Condition is very good. There is craquelature and some scratching well preserved under the original varnish. There is a small scratch lower right edge of board.

Albert Baure Benezit listed artist (1867-1930) a French impressionist oil on canvas, a French Riviera village seaside street with a few villagers relaxing on the cliff above the sea peeking out from the left. Baure is Benezit listed, noted for his his village and landscape paintings. The last photo shows the Benezit memo.

ALEXANDER DZIGURSKI AMERICAN ARTIST, 1911-1995 original oil on canvas. Painted early in the artists career while living in Italy, a fine rendition of the Grand Canal. This is a rare offering, as the majority of this California artists work is California related.

Alexander Dzigurski, who is known for his seascapes, landscapes, and some portraiture, is associated with the art of California, although he was born in the farming community of Backa, located in Stari Becej, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His extensive US travel can be seen in his works from the Smokies, the Grand Tetons, Mt. Shasta, the Rockies, Glacier National Park, New England, and other coastal areas. His paintings can be found in the Franklin Mint Museum of American Art in Pennsylvania, the Republic Bank of Dallas, The Michigan Bank of Chicago, Illinois, the Ravenswood Bank of Chicago, Illinois, and at the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois. CARL KAHLER, oil painting on canvas, late 19th century, woman with gray thorobred race horse. Kahler was a well known listed American artist (Benizet), famous for his beautifully rendered horse and cat paintings. The female figure was a popular model at the time of the painting, and was known as the "IVORY SOAP GIRL." She also modeled for advertising for Coca Cola. Perhaps you have seen her on old trays. Born in Linz, Austria in 1855. Kahler studied at the Munich Art Academy and in Paris. During the 1880s he was well known in Germany and Austria. An itinerant artist, in 1886 he sailed for Australia where his works were well received and in demand. While there, he was awarded the commission for four paintings of the Melbourne Cup (racing event) and others in New Zealand. Upon moving to San Francisco from NYC in 1891, he opened a studio where he specialized in figure painting. Condition: excellent, original gilt Art Nouveau period frame. Barbizon Oil Painting,Charles Emile Jacques French (Benezit) 19th century landscape oil on canvas in original period gilt frame.

The artist, Charles Emile Jacques was born in France in 1813 and died in 1894, he was noted for his paintings of animals, especially farm animals.

Jacques was part of the Barbizon school, a movement of painters named after the village of Barbizon near Fontaine Bleau forest, France. The back of the canvas has the stencil mark "P.Briautt 2 Rue du Louvre, Paris" the name of the canvas supplier. (Circa 1880) Dimensions:Frame Height 32.7x 40 inches (83cm x 99cm)
