Late 17th Century, or Early 18th Continental Oil, of a beautiful Rubenesque woman wearing rich sumptuous garments, her fair hair peeking out from under her turban. She is reading with full attention to her book.
The lovely woman is dressed in a rich low cut gown accented by a large necklace which falls between her generous cleavage.
The painting, an oil on board has all the attributes of a Flemish, or Dutch masterpiece of the late 17th, early 18th century in the manner of Peter Paul Rubens.
I do not see a signature on the painting which is on an oval 7x5.75 Inch hand chamfered board.
Undoubtedly worthy of a museum.
The original hand carved frame is of the period and bears similar characteristics to frames from the Low Countries and Spain.
Condition is very good. There is craquelature and some scratching well preserved under the original varnish. There is a small scratch lower right edge of board.
