Vintage celadon lidded jar. It used to be the major export celadon ware of state-owned factory back to the time of 1970s. Designed by Mr. Li Huaide the Republic Period Longquan celadon guru, molding by his most famous apprentice Mr. Xu Chaoxing, current China Arts and Crafts Master, this classic lidded jar is embossed with peonies and leaves. Blends beautifully with any celadon pattern for a unique kitchen or table service.
Outside bottom is marked with an oval green sticker “MADE IN CHINA” as a historical identification for the period. Though the state-owned factory had closed in the middle of 1990s, Mr. Xu Chaoxing, Mr. Xiahou Wen and other senior workers at that time still remember the products. The hard time of traditional wood firing would take 3 days to see the final result. The color tone from the wood firing Longquan celadon kiln was classic. It is totally different from the modern gas kiln.
This is a historical piece. The size is much smaller than traditional lidded tureen at the same shape. It is mint with overall perfection except one firing pit shown on the photo and some tiny natural dark dots on the lid and jar.
This lidded jar is offered “AS IS”. The best “in good faith” description and photos are provided, along with history that confirmed by the ceramists who used to work there.
