Ge Di Celadon Peony Vase by Chen Ai-Ming
This peony vase was made by Ge-Kiln and Di-Kiln clay as body with bluish glazing. Due to the shape of vase the bluish glaze is accumulated on neck and base. The celadon artist Mr. Chen Ai-Ming used Di-Kiln clay as the body background. Then Chen used the Ge-Kiln clay and “plotted” the peony flora on the vase to create the contrast effect. In addition to the Ge Di ware color tone Chen also created a very detailed incise textures on the neck and lower part of the vase. The purple color decoration on the mouth rim creates another beautiful visual effect on the vase. That is why Chen Ai-Ming called “Mr. Detail” within Longquan celadon artists.
The Ge Di Celadon Peony Vase is in perfect condition and Chen Ai-Ming’s signature on base with certificate signed and wooden box form his workshop. |
