A late seventeenth century Arita plate decorated with a central motif of a Persimmons and a rocks. The cavetto decorated with six alternating panels showing stylised Peonies, and Rocks, bamboo and flowering Prunus. The patterns showing a striking similarity to that used for VOC orders produced at the Hikeoba and Sarugawa kilns. The dish has a plain undecorated reverse. The plate is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration and measures 22cm in diameter. Shipping at Cost

Such patterns, although particularly associated with Japanese porcelain, have their origin in Chizhou and Jizhou wares of the Chinese Yuan era.
