Late 17th, early 18th centuy Ko-Imari teabowl and saucer, decorated in the Imari palette with underglaze cobalt blue, iron red and gold, in excellent condition. Saucer is 9.5cm in diameter. Cup is 3.5cm H x 5cm W. No chips, cracks, frits or repairs. Insured shipping at cost.

A fine Qianlong period Caudle or Chocolate cup of double handled silver form with a barbed rim decorated in under-glaze blue with “Deutche Blumen”, European flowers after 17C Woodcut prints. Both the barbed rim of the cup and the saucer dressed with a light iron brown wash. The Cup stands 6.8cm high, and the diameter of the cup is 6.5cm and the width including the handles is 11cm. A rare large octagonal bowl decorated with European figures. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with two different figures occupying alternate panels, one holding a staff and the other wearing a short cape. The inside of the bowl decorated with a wide band of “shonsui” type diaper, and kylin or kirin in the well of the bowl. The bowl dates to the Bunkua era in the late Edo period circa 1800. A fine Ko Imari dish decorated with Waterfowl and Lotuses, Renchisuikin-zu; a popular kachou-ga, bird and flower genre motif both in Japanese and Chinese art, and often found on Chinese Kraak porcelain. The dish both in design and form closely follows similarly decorated blue and white Chinese porcelain dating to the Ming period.
