Fine Pair of 19th C. Kakiemon Plates

A pair of finely potted, translucent Kakiemon style plates with foliate rims neatly dressed with iron brown enamel, decorated with typical Kakiemon enamels on a milk-white ground. Circa late 19th C. The foot is wedge-shaped, not round or flat. About 7" diameter and undamaged. Superb quality with no chips, frits, cracks, hairlines or repairs; one plate has a minute glaze flake at 9 o'clock (see our fifth image). Ex- Norio Azuma (1928-2004), Japanese-American artist. Plates will be shipped in the collector's box inscribed by the artist. Insured shipping at cost.
