Rare Ming Kraak Shallow Bowl - c. 1615-1625
Molded foliate Kraak bowl, c. 1615-1625. Not a shipwreck piece, glaze is bright, unspoiled and clean. As you may see, two pieces have been broken off the rim and restuck. The central design is a typical Kraak design, but according to Kraak expert, Maura Rinaldi, borders like this formed by two rows of short, straight brushstrokes around a rounded and scalloped cavetto, are rare. About 8" x 1-3/8", translucent and thinly potted at Jingdezhen. Additional images on request. Insured shipping at cost.
