| Molded foliate Kraak bowl, c. 1615-1625. Not a shipwreck piece, glaze is bright, unspoiled and clean. As you may see, frits have been repaired with gold lacquer, suggesting this piece was once part of an old collection. Please note the hairline inside the foot rim, which may be seen partially inside the bowl. The central design is a typical Kraak design, but according to Kraak expert, Maura Rinaldi, borders like this formed by two rows of short, straight brushstrokes around a rounded and scalloped cavetto, are rare. About 7-7/8" x 1-3/8", translucent and thinly potted at Jingdezhen. Additional images on request. Insured shipping at cost. | ||
