Fine Chinese Ming Bronze Square Inscribed Tray Xuande
A very interesting tray of square form decorated in moulded low relief with a long inscription that contains the date for the seventh year, first month and fifteenth day of the Xuande reign. The reverse of the tray is cast with four ruyi shaped feet and a pair of cast dragons encircling the characters nei yung. The dish shows extensive wear to the patina and surface, as well as several casting flaws and a small hole to the right hand bottom corner of the dish. The dish measures 13.5cm in width and length For an identical dish see the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Accession 1991.204. and there attributed to the 15th-16th century.
