A fine Meiji Satsuma pottery vase with superb overglaze enamel decoration by two of the period's foremost artists, the potter Taizan Yohei IX, and the painter Kono Bairei. This work of art captures the mystical feeling of the beginning of autumn symbolized by the flight of migrating geese through gossamer clouds of gold against a full moon. About 10 inches high x 6 inches diameter. No cracks, chips, damage or repairs. Slight rubbing of gold on the mouth as shown in photo. Signed Nihon Kyoto Taizan and with the impressed seal to the recessed base. Insured shipping at cost. This consignment piece is located in Delaware.
