An unusual oval form tray dish panted in reverse style with a scene of Tekkai Sennin, the Chinese Immortal Li Tieguai. Presumably the scene represents his anima, spirit, being drawn into the recently dead body of a crippled beggar, following the unfortunate cremation of his own body, whilst he had been visiting Laozi in spirit form. The scene is painted in kakiwake reverse style. The main part painted in reverse whilst the cloud like anima, that encompasses the dish, has been painted using a shiranuki, resist technique. The dish measures approximately 19cm long and is 16.5cm wide, the rim standing 2cm high. It is in excellent condition
