A small beaker form vase of square section with vertical barbed halberd shaped vertical flanges dating to the Meji period. The decoration rather than cast has been cold chiselled in “Chinese style”. The upper register contains four seasonal vignettes, Spring Ume ni Egisu, Bush warbler and Plum blosson, Summer, Botan ni Kiji, Autumn Maple and Deer, Shika Momiji-zu, and Winter, Pine and Cranes, Matsu ni Tsuru. The middle register a pair of raised roundels containing mon like motifs, incorporating karahana, and a Peonies, set against a cloud ground. The base decorated with Lily pads all set against a ring punched ground. The mouth of the vase measures 9.6cm by 9.6cm, the base 5.4cm by 5.4cm and stands 12.5cm high. It weighs 659gm.
