An Imari export bowl with a reticulated interlocking circle “shippo” border decorated with a typical Imari pattern of Chrysanthemums and Karakusa set against a blue ground inset of stylised landscapes of pheasants and flowering trees, and a central motif of hosoge-mon, flower of precious appearance. The bowl dates to the period 1730-50. The bowl has been restored. The extent to which I am uncertain, because of the degree of over-painting, but it has been done to a comparatively high stand. It measures 19cm in diameter by 7cm high. Shipping at Cost.
