An Arita Soba Choko decorated with an overlapping pattern of Peony petals, sô botan hanabira bun, with a window containing a pair of auspicious Precious Objects, a Fly Whisk and three Scrolls bound, by ribbons, mado e takara. This motif appears to have been borrowed from Chinese Kraak style patterns of the late Ming period. The foot is decorated with a band of stylised stiff leaves, and the interior of the rim is decorated with a diaper border and a Three Friends of Winter motif, kanjô shôchikubai, within a double ring within the well of the beaker. The beaker measures 8.3cm in diameter and stands 6.5cm cm high. The beaker is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. Shipping at Cost.
