A very unusual Chinese version of an Arita copy of a Dutch Delft Apothecary’s Jar, or albarello. I have not seen a similar example. The jar is decorated with four panels of floral motifs in famille rose enamels , alternating with Lotus Flowers supporting a Vase containing Peonies, and Prunus Blossom with a large Camelia bloom. The borders of the panels painted with an elegant Peach leaf arabesque in underglaze cobalt blue. See No 173 at page 90 of “The voyage of Old Imari”, Kyushu Museum for examples of the Delft and Arita versions both of which are plain without any enamel embellishments The jar measures approximately 20cm in height and is 12cm in diameter. It is in over all good condition with some minor kiln flaws, a very short firing flaw/ hairline crack to the top lip. Worldwide shipping included in the price.
