Superb Chinese Cinnabar Plate with Qianlong Mark

Superb Chinese cinnabar plate edged with metal. Six character stylized Qianlong reign mark (nien-hao) in a square cartouche to the reverse reads Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi or Made in the Great Qing Qianlong Period, but most likely 19th century. The reverse is also carved with attributes of the Daoist Immortals. Excellent condition. The carving is deep and the edges sharp. Darker color seen in our first two images is accurate. We have brightened the other images to clarify the details. Bracket-lobed dishes with metal edges usually bear a Qianlong mark on a metal inset on the reverse. Diameter is 9.5" (24cm). Please see Plates 96a and 96b, pp. 122-123 of Derek Clifford's CHINESE CARVED LACQUER for a similar example. Larger, higher-resolution images are available on request. Insured shipping at cost.
