SHOFU KATEI Shreve & Co Sterling Silver Japanese Vase
Shofu Katei (1870 to 1928)

Shofu Katei, also known as Shofu Kajo, was born in 1870 in Seto, Japan. Shofu came to Kyoto in 1888, and in 1890, he was adopted into the Shofu Kajo family. In 1908, he set up the Shofu Ceramics Company, Ltd. and was awarded a Green Ribbon in 1915.

Height: 6 inches

Width: 4.5 inches

Age: Meiji to Taisho (1900 - 1920)

Mark: Shofu and impressed Shreve & Co. Sterling

Condition: Very good with only a small area on the edge of one silver leaf where it could have been reattached (image 5). I don't know if it was done when it was made or later. There are no other problems.
