Gorgeous 1950-60's vintage Gerardo Lopez sterling and stone necklace. Very much like Margot de Taxco or Los Castillo in style. Lopez is a very well respected smith who produced some of the best made pieces in Taxco during its heyday, and is featured in several books. The necklace has a wearable closed length of about 14 3/4 inches. It is 5/8 inches wide with the cabachon glass stones about 3/8 across. Push clasp. Marked Sterling 925, Hecho en Mexico, Lopez Taxco in his signature oval mark, Eagle #26 assay stamp. Very fine workmanship. |
