Vintage decorative Fred / Frederick Davis design sterling and amethyst bowl made for Sanborns. This beautiful 1930's era Sanborns bowl was likely designed by Fred Davis while Manager and designer of the jewelry arts department for Sanborns during the 1930's. It employees similar style motifs and elements used later under his own production.
The bowl has six natural 5/8 inch cabochon amethysts, and floral engravings. It measures 4 3/8 inches around x 1 3/4 high and rests on three legs. Markings (faded): remnant of an incised "D", 925, ... en hecho, the 3-owl Sanborn's symbol, and Sanborn Mexico Sterling.
Overall good vintage condition and patina with some age wear. Purple amethysts have natural white inclusions. A wonderful decorative piece of art.
