MARGOT de TAXCO Sterling BRANCH MOTIF NECKLACE BRACELET
Exceptional vintage Margot de Taxco necklace and bracelet set circa 1950's. Though this is one of her most beautiful design motifs, the necklace is very hard to find. Nice weight in very good condition with a warm age patina. Both pieces are marked Margot de Taxco, 5474, Sterling, Made in Mexico, with an old style eagle 16 assay mark.

The branch motif design of the necklace angles from the top away from the neck at the bottom. The wearable closed length is about 15 inches at the top and 16 at the bottom. It does expand or contract gently to fit the wearer. It is 4 1/2 inches across at the top, 5 1/2 at the bottom, and 4 inches back to front at top, 5 inches at the bottom. It is 1 1/2 inches wide in front tapering down to the solid bar just prior to the rear clasp.

The bracelet closed is 7 x 1 1/4 inches. It is open about 1/2 inch in front but the spring holds well.

Margot van Voorhies Carr was married to Antonio Castillo and designed many of their early famous pieces. On her own she is probably the most recognized and collected female jewelry designer from Taxco's golden age.
