Large organic Bernhard Hertz Master Brooch with carnelian. This exsquisite brooch was made circa 1910, Denmark. It has intertwined organic leaf designs surrounding two translucent carnelian cabachons. Very Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts, and similar in style to early Georg Jensen and Evald Neilsen pieces of the period.
It is stamped 82(last 8 is missing) S and bears the BH stamp for Bernhard Hertz. The brooch has it's original pin and C clasp and is in wonderful condition. It measures 1 3/4 inches wide x 2 7/8 high including the drop. Hertz was a contemporary of Georg Jensen at the turn of the century. Very hard to find exceptional pieces such as this. |
