Austrian cold painted Vienna Bronze showing two frogs playing a game of cards, Poker maybe? looks to be a Bergman piece although unsigned. Very little wear to polychrome finish and in very good condition, with fantastic detail. Measures 3 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches.
The Bergman foundry, under the leadership of Franz Bergman, was renowned for its production of miniature bronze groups, animals, birds and other collectable bronze items which were cold painted after casting and often excelled in detail and originality. Their size made these items more affordable and collectable and today these polychrome Viennese pieces are highly sought after. |
