This is a Superb, Late 18th Century, excellently hand-carved Boxwood Netsuke depicting a Noh Mask Group of Seven. Among the ancient Japanese Theater characters represented on this mask group are Okame, Otafuku, Hannya, Usofuki, Buaku, Oni, and Bikumi.
Outstanding detail and expression in this remarkable miniature sculpture. Netsuke has been wonderfully preserved with a deep patina, as may be seen in the posted photos. Signed Kizan (Kameyama) in a rectangular reserve. Himotoshi lined with a natural material.
Netsuke measures 1.47 inches3.7cm) wide, 0.88 inches ( 2.5cm) deep, and 1.50 inches (3.8cm) tall
