This is an excellently and intricately carved boxwood very charming netsuke, made by our own Pennsylvania native, David Carlin. He describes it as a "Model of a teddy bear in seated position, leaning a Jack-in-the-Box out of which Jack seems to be trying to escape with his face, one hand and a knee partially visible. All eyes are inlaid in black horn." The 'DC" monogram is carved into the bottom of the box. Netsuke is heavily stained in brown color. It measures 0.78 inches (2.0cm) wide, 1.16 inches (4.0cm) long, and 1.05 inches (2.7cm) tall. It is in outstanding condition, as may be seen in the posted photos. The value of this netsuke is estimated at $1,600.
