This is an excellently and intricately carved boxwood very charming netsuke, made by our own Pennsylvania native, David Carlin. He describes it as a "Model of a man who is stooped over with both hands on a car axle supporting two multi-media, free-moving tires. His burden is hampered further by a puzzled monkey sitting on his shoulders." The 'DC" monogram is carved into the bottom of the box. Netsuke is stained in tan and brown colors. It measures 1.28 inches (3.2cm) wide, 1.47 inches (3.7cm) long, and 1.41 inches (3.6cm) tall. It is in outstanding condition, as may be seen in the posted photos. The value of this netsuke is estimated at $1,500.
