Fun antique Chinese minority fold silk embroidered child's hat for festivals. Very colorful with many many emblems, metal decorations and a black cloth chin strap. Late Qing early 20th century.

About 5.8" diameter and 4" high. Condition is good with very minimal losses and some inevitable soiling from use... this is an actual antique hat which was used. Colors are bright, but slightly more muted than the flash picture.

An Imperial 9 dragon embroidered robe with shimmering couched gold threads. The beautiful blue ground is for a 3rd rank prince. (See history snippet in rosemandarin.tuilleries.com for all ranks.) Actually there are 15 dragons total in the pattern or design (see below). The silk robe is a deep navy blue and quite large, 57 inches long with a 44 inch wide bottom, and about 85 inches cuff to cuff. The stitchery is very fine. And every stitch is with golden metallic thread...

This is a fine silk skirt with figural embroidery and vivid colors for a wedding, festival or special occasion. There are 2 very detailed figural panels with gold thread. Late Ch'ing (Qing) or early Republic of China period; about 100 years old. You see these panels now but seldomly intact on the original skirt. Very good condition with no staining. Since the skirt is used only on special occasions, it was put away at other times, and the colors are still good.

This is fun, a Chinese embroidery of 2 figures at a festival, one playing a drum and another holding a lantern. Perhaps it was the autumn lantern festival. Both robes were done entirely in the fancy "forbidden knot" or Peking stitch (see detail pictures). It is most likely from an old robe or decorative hanging used for festivals. The fun frame is in red, and has golden dragons climbing all over. About 16 1/2 by 13 1/2 inches in the frame...

Scattered around are various clouds and auspicious floral bouquets in forbidden stitch. It is in a nice gold frame of approximately 26 by 20 inches. Nice condition.

Fits with just about any decor. It is from the front or back of an antique dragon robe...

A fine pair of antique Chinese kesi (kossu is Japanese term) tapestries of large size with gold and silver threads on silk. Theme is the woman warrior Mulan now made famous by Disney. It shows her receiving the sword from heaven and then fully outfitted for battle. In Chinese myths, supernatural qualities are attributed especially to the sword. War like themes are often woven into kesi tapestries, but this is the first one I've seen of Mulan...
