A pretty covered cheese or butter of good size and hexagonal form by Royal Doulton in the Mandarin pattern. There is a fitted liner or strainer as shown. And the Mandarin pattern has those wonderful oriental figures which appear to be hand colored. Butterflies flying about; dragonflies and birds in the medallions of the bands. Old Royal Doulton England backstamp with English registry and U.S. patent numbers dating it to 1893.
8.8" across and 4.3" high to the open fretwork finial when assembled. Cover 6.5"" across and liner 5"" across. Age crackle as normal for English bone china one very small chip to inside corner of cover not visible from outside. Very good condition with no chips or hairline or cracks otherwise.
This is a rare form to find intact and in a highly desirable 1893 Royal Doulton pattern.
