An antique Staffordshire gaudy imari tazza or compote & liner. The inky deep cobalt blue ground is almost black. The bold lines of the floral design are certainly gaudy. Colors are hand painted. Nice scalloped form on both pieces the scallop extending down on the pedestal. There is an impressed mark on the bottom which looks like ""IVORY"" and an impressed "9" or "6" on the plate. About 120-150 years old.
8.5" diameter and 4.75" high. Age crackle as is normal for old English bone china. A single tight 1"" hairline on the tazza a small 0.8" chip on the inside rim of the liner; both not readily visible. Gold on rim has some wear. The tazza footrim is in the cobalt blue and has some color loss. Overall good condition no structural damage.
This is a handsome 2 piece group in antique English bone china imari with great form.
